When I began my study in the United States, I did not speak English very well. There were nearly no other Japanese people in the community, and I often felt isolated due to the language barrier. Although my proficiency in English improved in a few years, I sometimes felt disconnected due to cultural differences. I wanted to find a way where people in the community can learn the beauty of Japanese culture and where I can connect with others through a collective effort, especially in a form of art which has no language limitations. I also did the project, hoping to provide a space where my peers can relax, reflect, and be present amidst their hectic schedule. Now that we face global issues, I hope that this program would allow us to appreciate the moment of peace of mind and heal the world together through a collaboration. Through working together, we form boundless connections and strive towards a common goal, overcoming numbers of difficulties that we currently face.
